2014 has indeed been a year where a lot of famous personalities graduated from their respective degrees. For a lot of them, it’s an accomplishment they will cherish forever, especially considering the challenges involved in balancing academics and their particular careers.
You may be surprised, but even the most unsuspecting of celebrities have also managed to finish their programs and don their gowns and regalia! Below is a list of famous people who just earned their degrees this year.
1. Emma Watson
The Harry Potter and Noah actress recently graduated with a degree in English literature from the Ivy League institution in Rhode Island, Brown University—at 24 years old.
Not only that. Just last year, she became a certified yoga and meditation instructor. You could say that she’s incredibly versatile!
This may come as a surprise for you: the former NBA star just garnered his doctorate degree in education from Barry University in Miami, Florida.
A year into his retirement from the NBA, he stated that he doesn’t miss playing in court because he’s “… got a new walk. A doctor’s walk.” Makes sense for O’Neal, as he’s shifting from one perspective in life to another.
3. Elin Nordgren
Model and Tiger Woods’s ex-wife Elin Nordgren has since graduated with an “outstanding graduating senior” award bestowed upon her by the Rollins College. She gained her degree in psychology with a 3.96 GPA. That truly is outstanding.
4. Puff Daddy
So he didn’t really graduate, but was instead granted an honorary doctorate in humanities. Sean “P. Diddy/Puff Daddy” Combs was given the degree by his old school, Howard University, as he gave the commencement speech.
He dropped out of Howard, thus he wasn’t able to get his bachelor’s degree. In his speech, he stated that if he hadn’t left school early, he would have been more prepared.
Graduation is indeed a vital moment for anyone, even celebrities. To value one’s education until the big day comes truly is important and the best of us shouldn’t be complacent when it comes to our academic lives. And apparently, even celebrities mentioned believed so.
May they serve as inspirations for students everywhere.
